Study Mode
Our programs are delivered face to face. We offer course materials and resources which you can access online to enhance your learning. These online resources are designed to enhance the outcomes of your face to face learning: they are not a substitute for face to face learning.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
We find that some students have existing skills and experience which relate to your intended course of study. The existing skills and experience might be helpful in shortening the time it takes for you to achieve your desired qualification. The skills and/or experience might come from earlier studies, career and life experiences.
You will appreciate that we need to obtain sufficient evidence to justify any RPL that you might achieve. We undertake our RPL activity by using an RPL kit. The kit asks you to reflect on the skills you hold, how these relate to your intended course of study and how you can provide evidence that you are sufficiently skilled. While this approach can sound formal, our objective is to help you through the process and to respect the skills you already hold.
It is unusual, but not impossible, for you to achieve RPL for a complete qualification. More commonly, students achieve RPL for some of the Units of Competency within their desired qualification. There is no guarantee either way. Until we are able to work with you and understand your skills, we cannot guarantee any result. In some instances, after our review you might be required to complete the full range of studies after all. Such an outcome might be due to differences between the skills you hold and the skills as specified in the qualification you are seeking. We apply the same fee for RPL as for full time study for the qualification.
We apply the same fee for RPL as we apply for formal study. The saving for you is in the amount of time required to achieve your qualification. The intention is to give you the best outcome, but it does take up a lot of our time.
If you want to be considered for RPL, please contact us. We will give you a more detailed outline of what is required based on your own circumstances. We will provide you with our RPL kit. We encourage you to carefully read through the RPL kit prior to making a decision to seek RPL as you may find it easier to undertake assessments instead of gathering the documentation required for RPL.
We require you to make satisfactory arrangements for your tuition payments before we proceed with any RPL process. If you are not granted RPL for part of all of your desired qualification, then you will be required to undertake your classes and normal assessment tasks in order to reach your study goal. For some students, this study can be shorter than normal. This can happen if we find that you have some prior learning even if this is not sufficient to earn you RPL for a complete Unit of Competency. This is sometimes called Gap Training. Each Gap Training process is different just as your skills and experience will differ from other candidates.
Other Information
Full-time study is mandatory for international students. This requires 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.30 am to 4.15 pm). Depending on your circumstances, we can assist domestic students to study on a part-time basis. Part-time study is likely to extend the duration of the course beyond the duration listed at the top of this page.
